Mt. Spokane Stake Created Karl Otterstrom, June 19, 2016June 3, 2024 June 19, 2016 is an historic day for the Church in the Spokane area with the creation of a new 6th Stake. The “Spokane Washington Mt. Spokane Stake” was formed with the Beacon Hill, Friendship Park & Shiloh Hills wards of the Spokane Stake, the Greenbluff Ward of the Spokane North Stake and the Foothills and West Valley wards from the Spokane Valley Stake. Jed D. McKinley, from the North Stake, was called as the first Stake President of the Mt. Spokane Stake with Matthew M. Borders, from the Spokane Stake as first counselor and Darin W. Christensen of the Spokane Valley Stake as 2nd Counselor. Carson McComas of the Spokane North Stake was called as Stake Executive Secretary and William L. Steen of the Spokane Stake was called as Stake Clerk. All members of the new stake were released from any stake callings they had in their old stakes. Members of the Mt Spokane Stake who wish to attend a Spanish speaking unit are invited to attend the Spokane 3rd Branch under the direction of the Spokane West Stake. Young Single Adults in the Beacon Hill, Friendship Park and Shiloh Hills wards who wish to attend a YSA ward, are invited to attend the Shawnee YSA Ward of the Spokane North Stake. Young Single Adults from the Foothills and West Valley Stakes are invited to attend the Terrace View YSA ward in the Spokane East Stake.
