During the business portion of the conference of the Spokane Washington Stake Conference, Stake President Timothy M. Cobb asked members to sustain President Jason L. Richardson as 1st Counselor and President David J. Hone as 2nd counselor. The vote among the 800+ members and friends in attendance was unanimous, as speakers in the conference centered on gathering greater in our Savior Jesus Christ.
The impetus for the reorganization was the call of President Phil R. Huber, 1st counselor in the stake presidency, and his wife, Sister Alice Huber, to serve as mission leaders in the Tanzania Dar es Salaam Mission, effective July 1, 2026, as previously announced by the Church. President Jason L. Richardson was also released as 2nd counselor before being sustained as 1st counselor in the reorganized presidency. David J. Hone was then sustained as 2nd counselor. President Hone is a dentist in Spokane and longtime member of the stake, having previously served as bishop of the Glenrose Ward from 2017 to 2022. He and his wife, Sheri, are the parents of two adult children. The changes were administered by President Cobb under the direct authorization of the First Presidency of the Church.
Following the stake business, President Cobb invited Sister Huber, Sister Hone and President Hone to bear their testimonies in light of the changes. President Richardson then gave prepared remarks concerning our responsibility to share our light with others to help gather others. The meeting was punctuated by President Cobb’s final invitation to us to gather in love and unity and then the stake choir sang a moving medley of the familiar hymns, “Lord, I Would Follow Thee” and “As I Have Loved You.”
