On Sunday, December 10, 2023, members of the Spokane Stake sustained Sister Malerie Weed of the Lincoln Heights Ward as the Stake Relief Society President. President Weed’s presidency includes Sister Kristi Plaster of the Spokane 2nd Ward, as 1st Counselor, Diane Costa of the Manito Ward, as 2nd Counselor, and Hannah Brugger of the Eagle Peak Ward, as Secretary. The new presidency succeeds President Cheryl Porter, who served as Stake Relief Society President since November 2019, along with her counselors Andrea Hainsworth and Jamie Christensen, and Secretary Valynn Holland.

All adult women in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day of Saints are members of the Relief Society. With over 7 million members worldwide, the Relief Society provides spiritual and temporal relief to sisters and brothers throughout the world. The Stake Relief Society President is a member of the Stake Council. She and her presidency help train and support ward Relief Society presidencies. They counsel together regularly and organize events, projects and programs to serve the community and build unity.
President Weed was born in Spokane and raised in the Spokane Stake. Malerie has also lived in Arizona, Utah, California and Iowa. She married Matt Weed in 2005 and moved around the country with him for his ophthalmology training, returning to Spokane seven years ago. She and Matt have four children. She has been a harpist for most of her life, and loves being creative, making great food, backpacking and spending time at the lake.
