The Spokane Stake Presidency issued a letter earlier today directed to the stake council, bishoprics and ward councils, announcing a special stake conference to be held on June 1st and 2nd, 2024. All meetings will be held at the stake center and are in lieu of regular Sunday services. The general Sunday session will begin at 9am, an hour earlier than is customary.
Elder Adeyinka A. Ojediran, General Authority Seventy, will preside at the conference. He currently serves as second counselor in the North America West Area presidency. Elder Ojediran visited the Spokane Stake in April for a regional leadership conference presided over by Elder Neil L. Andersen of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. During that visit, Elder Ojediran held a special devotional for members and friends of the Regal Branch of the Spokane Stake as highlighted at the time in a stake Facebook post. For the special stake conference in June, he will be accompanied by Elder Douglas P. Maxfield, an Area Seventy from Tracy, California. In conjunction with the conference, they have been assigned by the First Presidency to reorganize the Spokane Stake Presidency.
The letter announcing stake conference details the sessions to be held, as outlined below:
Session | When | Who’s Invited |
---|---|---|
Leadership Training | Saturday June 1st; 4-6pm | Ward and stake council members (both priesthood and sister leaders) and their complete presidencies including secretaries, and ward mission leaders |
Adult Session | Saturday June 1st; 7-9pm | All adults ages 18 and up |
General Session | Sunday June 2nd; 9-11am | All members and friends (web link for those authorized to attend remotely can be obtained from your bishop) |
The messages of stake conference will center on the doctrine of Jesus Christ, His invitations to us, and the blessings He has promised to those who follow Him. Given this special scope of this conference, the stake presidency concluded their letter by inviting members to prayerfully approach this historic conference, with a desire to sustain and support a new stake presidency in fostering Zion in Spokane.
The June 2024 stake conference invitation letter is to be read in all Sacrament meetings leading up to the conference and can be viewed and downloaded below.
