A compassionate update on holding Sunday worship as scheduled while supporting families displaced by the wildfires.
August 2, 2026
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Due to the ongoing wildfires in our area, we want to let everyone know that our Sunday church meetings will be held as normally scheduled today. We want to be able to provide a reliable place for individuals and families to partake of the sacrament.
Last night, the stake center was used as a shelter for families who were displaced by the fires. Several families spent the night in the building, and others stayed in the parking lot as they sought safety and assistance.
As you come to worship, we invite you to be especially respectful, kind, and helpful to those who are experiencing these difficult circumstances. A warm greeting, a willingness to assist, and patience as we share the facilities can make a meaningful difference during their time of need.
We are grateful for the efforts of emergency responders, volunteers, and all those who are helping affected families. Please continue to keep those impacted by the fires in your prayers.
Thank you for your Christlike love and support.
Sincerely,
Spokane Stake Presidency
